About me

Minbo Chung

  • Birthday: 4 Nov 1995
  • Nationality: The Republic of Korea
  • Residence: Almere, NL
  • Drive license: B, AM
  • Spoken languages: Korean (Mother-tongue), English, and Dutch (A2)
  • Degree: Master

Life at the University

  • I had a long journey in digesting fundamentals in computer/external devices' architectures and mechanisms, programming, data science and efficient algorithms. Throughout the progress, I noticed that my personality and skills are developed and shaped by a mix of analytical behaviour, self-discipline and contributions of important people in my network.
  • Besides studying, me and my friends at the university met a few times at QFactory to play a band.

Personal goal

  • Like every other people, I have been looking for a job that fits my skills and personality. Thankfully, I have met supportive people who exposed me to work environments.
  • Currently, I devoted my life at Eindhoven to start my career in Software engineering.

Skills

The progress bars below presents how much I have been exposed to practicals at school, work and hobbies.

The most spent time

Python

Work and school

First, I was introduced in Python for data science assignments at School.

I learned the process of fetching & preparing data and providing ML/DL solutions with statistical reasonings.

Then, I witnessed the flexibility in technical depth for individual projects by different teams at ASML. One of the experiences, I learned how to implement scripts with Object-oriented designs for data onboarding to a online visualization platform, Splunk.

Thanks to seniors, I observed how Python scripts are integrated with C++ scripts for unit testings. And as well as writing efficient Python code for nanometer-scaled sensitive system operations.

C

School and hobby

My first lanugage I dived into as an hobby after entering my first University. The motive was to learn *pointers and &references and eventually be aware of data structures and implementing efficient code in space and time complexity terms.

Reasonable time spent amount

SQL

School and work

Imported MySQLdb for Python3 provided by ASML and used queries to fetch data from Testresult Database that was upadated every seconds by software engineers.

Git & Bash scripting

Work

Knowing basic commands for team communication.

Practically not knowing much but learned from School

x86 Assembly, Java

x86 Assembly and Java (IJVM implemented in C) were great tools for me to learn how internally software takes the scripts and runs written programs.

I learned to implement abstracted methods and calsses first in Java for Advanced programming course at School.

Least spent time but had been interested

Web tech: HTML, CSS, JS, React-TS, Splunk

HTML, CSS, JS as well as RESTful APIs are learned from School. I learned Typescript from a work experience at Triply shortly. Then, I had learned learning React-TS for fun.

I learned Splunk visualization from one of internship experience.

Work Experiences

Computer science Internship (Automation project at ASML R&R department)

October 2023 - July 2024
  • Under great supervision and teachings, using Python3.11 and its software packages (e.g. PyRfc, openpyxl, and PyQt6), I created a software executable EXE file that automates extracting customed data from CSAP.
  • After the learnings, my passion led towards specializing in software engineering (systems) with ML/DL solutions.

Computer Science Internship (Source Innovation hub project at ASML D&E Department)

March 2023 - August 2023
  • In D&E department, different teams were committed to devising and realizing innovative ideas to improve the environment for developing embedded software as well as its product quality.
  • One of the ideas was to deliver cloud platform dashboards (Splunk Cloud) visualizing code quality, test results, and etc.
  • My project was free of choice to either focus on diversed dashboards or on one dashboard.
  • I chose one dashboard that focuses on visualizing test results.
  • I interviewed software engineers and formulated the dashboard requirements.
  • I wrote shell scripts to fetch tested results from driver's source components.
  • Then, I wrote Python scripts to datamine tested results and to enrich the data quality that made possible to present the stability of the tested software.
  • Data visualization is done through Splunk. You have a language similar to your own SQL query that generates a table. The default source from which the table is plotted.
  • I wrote documents to help understanding my implementation intentions and Splunk prerequisites for new interns and/or new volunteers.

Junior Software Developer (Triply)

July 2022 - September 2022
  • Experienced git, CI pipeline in GitLab, and implmenting packages in typescript (A package that translates lexical-formed data to canonical representation as stated in W3C XSD requirement). Implemented unit tests for the package as well.

Teaching assistant (VU Amsterdam)

March 2020 - May 2020
  • I gave practical sessions (Linear algebra) for second-year CS and AI students.
  • I prepared PPT files for each session.
  • Each PPT contained the study materials for the lecture content.
  • I wrote brief notes on how to solve each question and simplified theories for better understanding for students.

TomTom Telematics → Webfleet solutions

August 2019 - February 2020
  • The compay was acquired by TomTom but it was, later, sold by a Japanese company called Bridgestone. So, the company was rebranded from TomTom Telematics to Webfleet solutions.
  • My objective was to help them update the company's web content to their new brand as a front-end intern.

Language interpreter (Korean - English)

2016
  • Korean Busienssmen from Inchoen Airport visited Boon Edam to observe automated passport checkers. (3 days of work as interpreter)
  • In Utrecht, Korean civil servants who were in charge of designing bike routes for the new city nearby Incheon, visited Dutch civil servants to learn how the traffics are designed for bike and vehicle routes. (1 day of work)
  • Businessmen from Our Home Mall, a Korean meal-care company, visited Wageningen for observing their collaborated Kimchi project. (2 days of work)

Newspaper delivery work in Almere Muziekwijk
